/ AI at the core

Same clean cert — every engineer, every trade, every time. Eight AI tools make sure of it.

Every AI feature inside NexCert exists to turn what the engineer captures on site into a certificate that matches your client's spec, your scheme's rules, and the governing standard — BS 7671 for electrical, GSIUR 1998 for gas — before it ever reaches the QS.

DB Vision · Appliance Vision

Snap the board. Snap the boiler. Data fills itself.

Photograph a distribution board — DB Vision reads breakers, poles, manufacturer, RCDs and SPDs and returns a full circuit schedule with per-cert IR test voltages seeded (500 V EIC, 250 V + LIM EICR). Snap an appliance data plate — the gas twin extracts model, GC number, input rating and CO/CO₂ target for the CP12 straight into the appliance row.

Spec Sentinel

Client reference-cert enforced automatically.

Upload the client's spec once. Every new cert is diff-checked against it — wrong CSA, missing bonds, out-of-range Zs values, non-matching earthing arrangements are all flagged and blocked before you can sign.

Regs Radar

Never sign a cert that fails an audit.

The rulebook is baked in. Every reading the engineer enters is checked against BS 7671 (A4:2026 or A3:2024 per contract) and GSIUR 1998 the moment it lands — voltages, Zs, CSA, RCD trip windows on electrical; tightness drops, working pressures, CO/CO₂ on gas. Failed checks flag in the wizard, not two days later when the client calls. Contract-specific overrides bake in per-client rules on top.

Voice Match

Observations drafted in your team's voice.

Voice Match reads your last signed certs and drafts C1 / C2 / C3 observations in the exact phrasing your QS already approves. Different engineers, same voice on every deliverable.

Notes Reader

Handwritten notes into structured fields.

Photograph your site notepad. Notes Reader OCRs your handwriting, maps entries to their circuits, and populates the cert — no re-typing what you already wrote once.

Compliance Check

The QS never sees a broken cert.

Every field checked against the regs, the client's reference cert, and the contract's own rules — before the QS is pinged. Missing serials, invalid readings, unsafe codes without photo evidence, missing required attachments on gas — all caught at the engineer's screen, not on the QS's desk. QS time only ever spent on judgment calls, never fixing typos.

ACS Sentinel · Gas

No ACS quals, no sign. No exceptions.

An engineer without the right ACS competency literally can't sign the cert. Wrong or expired quals? The app refuses. The QS gets an "expiring soon" dashboard so nobody drives to a job they can't sign. Every ACS ticket (CCN1 · CENWAT · CKR1 · HTR1 · MET1 · CODNCO1 · COCNCO1 · LPG variants) is tracked on the engineer's profile with its expiry date.

Calibration Sentinel · Both trades

Instruments always in-cal, without the paper chase.

Every test instrument on your fleet — MFT · insulation · loop · RCD · earth for electrical, FGA · manometer · tightness for gas — tracked with its next-calibration date. Engineer and QS get 14 / 7 / 1 / 0-day and 7-day-past-due reminders by email. The instruments page shows amber-then-red pill chips per unit, and a soft banner appears in-app from the two-week mark, so nobody drives to site with lapsed kit.

/ Built for scale

Same rails, 10 certs or 10,000.

Every social-housing, private-rented, HMO and commercial programme moves through the same eight stages — for both electrical (5-year cycle) and gas (annual cycle). NexCert automates the choreography so the same clean deliverable lands on every property, both trades, on cycle, on spec, evidenced.

Testing schedule

5-year rolling EICR + 12-month CP12 per property, on the same card. Every cert carries its next-due date; overdue lands red on the dashboard.

PRS Regs 2020 · GSIUR 1998

Tenant liaison & access

Statutory tenant notice, appointment booking, no-access follow-up queue. Same pipeline for CP12 access as EICR — every touchpoint logged.

28-day notice · both cycles

Inspection & test

Engineer runs the EICR or CP12 on the phone. Offline-first PWA. Findings classified — C1 / C2 / C3 / FI for electrical, ID / AR / NCS for gas — with photo evidence per code.

GN3 · Gas Safe classification

Triage & remedial queue

Every finding is captured with its industry-standard deadline visible against it. Electrical: C1 make-safe on discovery, FI ≤ 14 days, C2 ≤ 28 days, C3 bundled. Gas: ID appliance labelled and disconnected on the spot, AR labelled with owner notified. Nobody guesses the deadline.

GN3 · GSIUR conventions

Warning notice + remedial

Electrical: findings link to work orders. Gas: CP14 warning-notice template ready to fire on any ID or AR entry, appliance flagged in the register until remedy is logged; owner / landlord / tenant reached via the same handover pipeline.

/ QS sign-off

Remote QS approval. Full audit trail. Zero delay.

Engineers submit, QS reviews from anywhere. Every edit tracked, every approval signed, every version retained — designed against the audit conventions those schemes work to: BS 7671 traceability for electrical, GN3 classification, GSIUR record-keeping for gas, and ACS competence gating on every gas sign-off.

Two-stage sign-off, engineered for accountability.

Every certificate has a chain: engineer creates, engineer submits, QS reviews on desktop, QS signs. No shortcuts — even the owner can't skip a step. The audit log records who saw what, when, and what changed.

  • Full audit trail — creation, edit, submission, approval, all timestamped
  • Role-based scheme numbers on every signature block (NICEIC / NAPIT / SELECT for electrical, Gas Safe ID for gas)
  • ACS-quals guard on gas — CP42 refuses to sign without CODNCO1; expired quals block all gas sign-off
  • Version-lock on sign — the signed cert becomes immutable
  • Backlog gate blocks engineers with unresolved cert requests (both trades)

Enter your scheme number once. Every cert stamps it automatically.

NexCert has fields for the scheme registrations your firm already holds — so your NICEIC / NAPIT / SELECT / Gas Safe number lands on every EIC, EICR, CP12, CP17 or CP42 you issue, no re-typing. Multi-trade firms can also record BAFE, FIA and MCS numbers on the same profile. NexCert is an independent software tool — not a scheme body, and not endorsed by any of them. Your registration remains between you and the scheme.

/ How it works

Five steps. Every certificate. Every time.

Same rails for every cert type — capture on site, AI complete, QS sign, deliver, retain for recall.

1

Capture

Snap the DB, cable runs, meters, RCDs. GPS + timestamp bound to every field. Works offline — syncs when signal returns.

2

AI does the typing

Photo of the consumer unit → circuits filled in. Voice memo → observations drafted in your team's phrasing. Every reading checked live against the regs. Unqualified engineers blocked from gas sign-off before they even try. All audit-tracked.

3

QS sign-off

QS reviews the diff on desktop, approves with the right scheme block — NICEIC/NAPIT/SELECT for electrical, Gas Safe ID for gas — and locks the version. Full audit trail retained.

4

Deliver

Handover pack bundles cert + schedule + attachments + photos into one client-ready PDF, formatted the way that client asked.

5

Retain & recall

Cert stored, versioned, scheduled for re-inspection. Growth Engine picks up the landlord campaign automatically.

/ Certificate suite

Fifteen cert types. Two product lines.

Every UK compliance cert your engineers actually need — no juggling two apps for gas vs. electric. NexCert Electrical ships the 9 electrical, fire and ventilation certs. NexCert Gas ships the 5 gas certs. Complete unifies both on one workspace. Every cert maps 1:1 to the trade-standard template — so QSs and clients don't have to relearn a single layout.

/ Founder

Why NexCert exists.

I've spent over 15 years on UK electrical work. I trained and qualified as an electrician earlier in my career, and I've spent most of the time since on the programme side of the trade — running EICR schedules, remedial follow-up, and client audits inside contracting firms whose reputation lives or dies on their compliance record.

NexCert is the tool I wished I'd had every one of those years: built to help contractors deliver the service their clients spec — on time, in full, audit-ready — without the paperwork tax eating their margin. Built from inside the programme, not from a founder chair.

/ Add-ons

Three add-ons on top of the tier ladder.

Add-ons sit alongside the main plans and are switched on per workspace through [email protected] rather than sold self-serve. All three are live today, each priced per workspace on top of your plan — see pricing.

Live · QS Audit

Evidence your quality regime, don't just assert it.

A supervisor or QS lead samples completed certificates and works a structured checklist against each one. Fifteen starter checklists ship with the add-on, one per certificate type across electrical, gas, fire and ventilation — copy a starter and edit it to fit how your firm actually works. See QS Audit.

Live · Correspondence

Statutory tenant and landlord delivery, evidenced.

NexCert generates the letters and emails, sends the emails, and hands letters to a third-party print-and-post provider for second class or signed-for post. Every send is written to a ledger. Built for the 28-day tenant window on EICR and CP12 and the notices that ride alongside them. See Correspondence.

Live · SOR Contracts & Valuations

Priced work and valuations, from the certificate you already issued.

Hold your schedule-of-rates contract inside NexCert, price remedial and additional work against the contract's own rates, and raise the valuation from the same certificate the engineer issued — no retyping into a separate costing system. Contracts work on any tier; valuations use the property tools that start at Growth. See SOR Contracts & Valuations.

/ FAQ

Common questions.

Do I buy Electrical, Gas, or Complete?

Depends what you do. NexCert Electrical is for firms doing EICRs / EICs / Minor Works — includes fire (BS 5839-6) and ventilation (Approved Doc F) certs. NexCert Gas is for Gas Safe engineers doing CP12 landlord safety records, CP14 warning notices, CP2 domestic service records, CP17 commercial reports and CP42 catering certs. NexCert Complete unifies both on a single workspace — discounted against the combined price of the two individual memberships. If you're a multi-trade contractor doing social-housing or FM work, Complete typically pays back quickly on joint EICR + CP12 visits (one appointment, one van, one invoice).

Which certificate types are included in each product line?

NexCert Electrical (10 certs): EIC, EIC-Domestic, EICR (up to 100 A), EICR-Commercial (100 A+), Minor Works, Visual Condition Report under BS 7671:2018 + A4:2026 (A3:2024 valid until 15 October 2026); Fire Detection & Alarm CDF and Servicing under BS 5839-6:2019+A1:2020; Ventilation Test Certificate under Approved Document F Vol 1 · 2021.

NexCert Gas (5 certs): CP12 Landlord Gas Safety Record (annual, statutory); CP14 Warning Notice (Immediately Dangerous / At Risk); CP2 Domestic Gas Service Record (annual, non-statutory); CP17 Commercial Gas Installation Safety Report; CP42 Commercial Catering Gas Safety Certificate — all under the Gas Safety (Installation and Use) Regulations 1998.

How does the AI allowance work?

Every plan includes a monthly AI allowance, used by photo scans, AI help and Spec Sentinel checks: Solo 750 tokens, Small 2,500, Growth 4,000, Medium 10,000, Large 25,000 (Complete plans get 1.5×). As a guide, an EICR uses about 13 tokens, a CP12 about 10 and a Minor Works about 6, so the allowance covers about 57 EICRs or 75 CP12s on Solo, 192 or 250 on Small, 307 or 400 on Growth, 769 or 1,000 on Medium and 1,923 or 2,500 on Large. Certificates themselves are unlimited; only AI use is metered. From launch, when the allowance runs out you can turn on extra AI allowance, the same for every plan: the first 1,500 extra tokens at £0.02 each (£30, about 115 EICRs or 150 CP12s), the next 3,000 at £0.015 (£45, about 230 EICRs or 300 CP12s), then £0.01 each (about 13p an EICR, 10p a CP12), all + VAT. Admins set a monthly cap in Billing; at the cap, AI help pauses until next month. Once you have used AI on 10 certificates in a month, Billing shows your own average per certificate.

What's the "Complete" discount?

NexCert Complete gives you both product lines on one workspace for less than buying Electrical + Gas as separate memberships at the same tier size. A property with both a gas boiler and a fixed installation gets a single card in the register with two schedules on it — 12-month CP12 anniversary and 5-year EICR cycle — so the dashboard flags whichever falls due first.

How does the ACS quals guard work?

Every Gas Safe engineer's ACS qualifications (CCN1 for domestic natural gas, CENWAT for central heating & water heaters, CKR1 cookers, HTR1 heaters, MET1 meter work, CODNCO1 commercial catering, COCNCO1 commercial gas core, LPG variants, CMDDA1 for CO/CO₂ ratio) sit on the profile with expiry dates. NexCert refuses to let an engineer sign a CP42 without CODNCO1, a CP17 without COCNCO1, or any gas cert whose relevant qual has expired — the sign action blocks and the QS is told which quals are missing.

Do EICR and CP12 both have the same 28-day tenant delivery rule?

Effectively yes, but from different statutes. Electrical: PRS Regs 2020 requires the EICR to reach every existing tenant within 28 days and any prospective tenant within 28 days of a request. Gas: GSIUR 1998 requires the CP12 to reach existing tenants within 28 days of the check, and new tenants before they move in. Records kept ≥ 2 years for gas, until next inspection for electrical. NexCert handles both delivery windows automatically off the same handover-pack pipeline.

Can I use NexCert with my existing scheme registration?

Yes — NexCert has fields for every mainstream UK scheme registration a contractor holds, and your number stamps automatically on every cert you issue. NexCert is an independent software tool; it is not a scheme body and is not endorsed, accredited or affiliated with NICEIC, NAPIT, SELECT, Gas Safe, BAFE, FIA or MCS. Your registration and competent-person status remain between you and the scheme.

Electrical: NICEIC and NAPIT are the two primary competent-person schemes in England & Wales; SELECT covers Scotland (SJIB). For notifiable domestic work you must be on one of them, or notify via the LABC / Building Control route before starting. Multi-trade firms can also record BAFE, FIA and MCS numbers. ELECSA holders record their NICEIC number (Certsure merged ELECSA into NICEIC in 2022).

Gas (statutory): Every UK gas engineer must be on the Gas Safe Register by law (since 1 April 2009 when Gas Safe replaced CORGI). NexCert Gas / Complete workspaces show the Gas Safe row as first-class; hidden for Electrical-only workspaces.

Does NexCert meet the Electrical Safety Standards (PRS) Regulations 2020?

Yes. Every EICR sets a 5-year re-inspection date automatically; the handover pack is ready to send to the tenant within 28 days and to the local housing authority within 7 days of a request (the statutory windows under the 2020 regs). Unsatisfactory reports (any C1, C2, or FI) auto-generate a remedial queue with the correct deadlines: C1 → make safe on discovery, FI → ≤14 days, C2 → ≤28 days.

What about the social housing extension coming in 2025-2026?

NexCert is ready for the social-housing rollout: 5-year EICRs for new tenancies from 1 November 2025, existing tenancies from 1 May 2026, portfolio-complete by 1 November 2026. Private Registered Providers and local authorities can run their whole portfolio on rolling schedules with per-contract SLAs.

How does the AI actually stop errors reaching the client?

Six named AI tools work together: DB Vision reads distribution-board photos into circuit tables, Spec Sentinel enforces the client's reference cert, Regs Radar checks BS 7671 rules live, Voice Match drafts observations in your team's phrasing, Notes Reader OCRs handwritten notes, and Compliance Check runs a full pre-sign review. A cert can't be signed until every checker passes.

Does it work on site with no signal?

Yes. NexCert is an offline-first PWA — engineers capture photos, readings and notes locally, and everything syncs when signal returns. Same login on iPhone, iPad, Android and desktop.

How does remote QS sign-off work?

The engineer submits the cert; the QS gets a notification, reviews the diff on desktop (or phone), and signs with their scheme number. The cert is version-locked on sign and the full audit trail — who saw it, who edited it, who approved — is retained forever.

Is there a free trial?

Yes: a 7-day free trial when we launch. No card, no phone call, no lock-in. Cancel any time. Every AI tool is on during the trial. NexCert isn't open yet; join the waitlist to hear first.

Can I move my existing records into NexCert?

Tell us what you hold today and we'll confirm what is possible before you decide. Get in touch at [email protected] and we'll scope it against your data.

What about GDPR, security and audit?

Two-stage sign-off with full audit trail on every field. Signed certs are version-locked and immutable. UK-hosted database, HTTPS everywhere, role-based access, refresh tokens stored as one-way SHA-256 hashes.

Certificates, standardised. Sign-off, unblocked.
